"Whomever Allāh gives provision and he thinks that Allāh is not testing him, has no wisdom. Whomever has little provision and thinks that Allāh will not look at (provide for) him, has no wisdom." He then recited the ayat: فَلَمَّا نَسُواْ مَا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهِ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرِحُواْ بِمَا أُوتُواْ أَخَذْنَاهُم بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْلِسُونَ. [سورة الأنعام، ٤٤] So, when they forgot (the warning) with which they had been reminded, We opened for them the gates of every (pleasant) thing, until in the midst of their enjoyment in that which they were given, all of a sudden, We took them (in punishment), and lo! They were plunged into destruction with deep regrets and sorrows.
The Day of Ashoora (in Canada), the 10th of Muharram, is going to be this Monday the 8th of August. We wanted to highlight the importance of fasting on this day and what the Prophet Sallallahualaihiwasallam said: The Virtues of Fasting in Ashoora It is reported in Saheeh Al-Bukhari and Muslim that Ibn 'Abbas, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: "I never saw the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, seeking to fast on a day more (preferable to him) than this day, (the day of 'Ashoora’) or this month, i.e. the month of Ramadan.” Moreover, Imam At-Tirmithi narrated from Abu Qatadah that the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said: ''I hope from Allah that the fast on the day of 'Ashoora’ atones for the sins of the preceding year." Imam Ahmad , may Allaah have mercy upon him, narrated that "it atones the sins of two years, past and subsequent year". Imam Muslim reported that Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allaah be pleased with him, narrated: “When the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, fasted on the day of ‘Ashoora’ and recommended that it should be observed as a fast, they (his Companions) said to him: “O, Messenger of Allah! It is a day which the Jews and Christians hold in high esteem. Thereupon, the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said: ''When the next year comes, Allaah willing, we would observe the fast on the 9th. But the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, died before the advent of the next year"
The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are here. These are the most virtuous days of the year, in which Allah (swt) has blessed his Ummah with opportunities to multiply their rewards through His infinite mercy. The Prophet (saw) said, ‘There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than in these (ten) days’. [Abu Dawud] Here are some things to do on the first 10 days: * Fast the day of Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah) * Fast the first 9 days of Dhul Hijjah (if you are not performing the Hajj) * Make thikr: Tahleel (La ilah ill-Allah), Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), and Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah). * Make Istaghfar * Recite Quran * Make dua (with increased dua on day of Arafah) * Pray Tahajjud and other voluntary prayers. * If you are going to do the Udhiya/Qurbani, consider not clipping your nails or hair. * Give charity.
